Once we finished building the Spiral Steps Wall and Outdoor Kitchen at the Stoneworks Show Garden this Summer I set out to create an outdoor living space set against our Gothic Folly style with dining alfresco very much to the fore.

With the scene set finding the mainstay of our outdoor dining was the first task. A rustic old table top from my private treasure trove in the yard and a couple of old tressles we’ve had since the 70’s set on a weathered looking outdoor rug with a couple of Mulberry directors chairs from home got me underway.
I wanted a statement table top centrepiece and managed to unearth this quirky ornate chandelabra, an old brass candlestick to stand it on and the coloured candles on a quick trip into Frome. With the Tracery Window and Gothic Window in view and an old Horseshoe Chair from my trips to China thrown in it was all coming together nicely.
I wanted an informal outdoor dining scene with the table set more for a pop-up buffet with a delightful mix of chairs, bench, throws and cushions. Our BBQ Surround in the background is ready to go so grab a glass, pull up a chair and settle in.
As dusk approaches our garden party is set to start. The Ice Bucket is primed, guests can congregate around the Large Font with space to rest a glass or two, grab a seat in one of the romantic secret corners, shoot the breeze with the chef at the BBQ Surround or relax at the table, knife and fork to the ready for the feast ahead!
