About Redwood Stone

Redwood Stone is a family business now owned and run by Tim Redwood. The company is based in the South West of England in the small Cathedral City of Wells.

The business was started in the late 60’s Tim’s late father, Ken Redwood, gradually flourishing in line with the emerging garden centre trade in the UK through the 70’s. As Martin, Tim’s elder brother, and Tim joined the business the company grew as a trade only supplier until it became clear that their expertise at the top end of the market would benefit by establishing a recognisable brand.

Chelsea Flower Show 1991

Where better to start than at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show. In 1991 Tim and his team designed and built probably the most daring structure to be seen at Chelsea, a full scale Gothic Arch Folly which framed that year’s Gold Medal winning and Best Garden in Show. Redwood Stone have been ever present at Chelsea since that year winning many awards for their own displays and contributing to two further Gold Medal winning gardens and numerous Gold Medal winning displays in the Great Pavilion.

Benefitting from this exposure in the nineties Redwoods started to recognise the need for, and to develop, their instantly aged stone ornaments. The introduction of the Weathered Collection and Reclamation Stone set them apart from others in the market and the introduction of ‘The Gothic Folly’ at the Chelsea Flower Show 2001 really put the company on the map.

The Gothic Folly was an instant hit and went on to feature the next year at Chelsea on the Gold Medal winning Hillier exhibit in the Floral Pavilion and again in 2003 as well as Redwood’s own exhibits which featured on the Main Avenue of the show in 2004 and 2005. The Gothic Folly has been a highlight of both Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows ever since as well featuring strongly in various United States Flower Shows.

Not only that but Tim has now designed and introduced the Italianate Garden designs adding another string to the company’s bow.
