The Old Manor House Garden

The ruined 15th century fortified Manor House in the Old Manor House Garden at Capel Manor Gardens in Enfield is our largest Folly to date. The Folly was commissioned by the governors at Capel to provide a signature garden at their ever growing visitor attraction.

The first areas of the Folly and garden were opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in June 2010 and there have been more additions over the years.

The Royal Visit

It was a great honour and pleasure to meet HRH Queen Elizabeth II at the opening of the Old Manor House Garden at Capel Manor Gardens which I designed and built with my team. As I watched Her Majesty during the speeches I saw an elderly lady, just like my Mum, looking around and taking everything in. I swear she looked me briefly in the eye and recognised me from our earlier introduction. It seemed like such a natural moment away from all the formality, pomp and circumstance that she was so often surrounded. She will be sorely missed.
