We are fortunate to have the opportunity to design and supply for some amazing projects both in the UK and abroad. We will always be featuring a few here, both large and small – but always individual and inspired.
Self-Build at the bottom of the garden, Derbyshire
When Sarah and Huw came to see me at the Stoneworks in the Spring of 2021 they showed me this derelict scene at the bottom of their garden. They had plenty of inspiration though and had already started preparing for a retaining wall.
After chatting through their ideas for some raised beds, a folly entrance, steps to the terrace above and an upgrade on the pergola(!) I set to work on the design in our 3D software, and it wasn’t long before the two of them were hard at work.
As the build progressed we realised the need for a fitting exit in the top right hand corner to the canal beyond. The gateposts and brick & quoined pier finished things off nicely after an adjustment to the placing of the pergola columns.

A very ambitious design with wonderful finishing touches and splendid planting. Just imagine relaxing in the shelter in that oasis of calm!
